We hopped on a ferry over to Bainbridge Island yesterday afternoon to explore the island and have dinner with Team Kim (Dave and Jenn) who live over there. Dave (Kim) was in radiology residency at the Mayo Clinic at the same time that Dave (Shook) was doing his fellowship and has been practicing on the Olympic Peninsula for the last couple of years and Jenn is a Seattle/Bainbridge Island native. We have been trying to get together with them for years (literally) and it finally happened - woot!
Dave didn't want to get out of his car - it was only a 30 minute ferry ride, but it was very windy and brisk. I kinda dig it when the GPS shows us in the water...
When we got to the Island Team Kim was finishing up a karate belt promotion ceremony with their 7 year old so Dave and I did a little shopping and a wine tasting in the main town called Winslow, which was totally fun. We came home with a couple of bottles of wine and a few fun things for the kiddos. Couldn't help snapping a few pics of items that were straight out of the "Put A Bird On It" skit from Portlandia - perfect!
We then went and toured the island and had insanely good BBQ with Team Kim (and a great dessert at another restaurant) and caught the 9:45pm ferry home. It was a great day! We definitely need to do more island exploring.

Sounds like fun!! I know another Dave and Jenn couple from the college years! Weird.
